Chemical Application

Chemical application for weed control in tree or shrub plantings is offered by the Cass SCD. The chemical used is Casoron 4G, a granualr pre-emergent, which is applied using a 4 wheel ATV or a tractor with granular spreaders, to tree rows to prevent grass and weeds from emerging next spring. This chemical is applied to the surface of the ground around the trees after the ground cools to a temperature of less than 50 degrees.

It lays dormant until next spring when the temperature of the ground rises to above 50 degrees which causes the chemical to activate, just about the same time grass and weeds decide to start growing.

Chemical application price: $7 per hundred linear feet
